Today I was “reading” Vogue as usual, and I got surprised seeing that the attention was focused on some of the most important pictures taken by Patrick Demarchelier, some of these pictures were from the early 90s or even older than that, some of these pictures made the history of fashion.. and surprisedly the protagonist of all this is not a top-model but a very top-French-photographer, Demarchelier.

Looking at all those pictures I couldn’t but reckon ”Sometimes who’s hidden behind a camera, it’s a genius”

It is the eve of a new Paris show of the work of Patrick Demarchelier, and in this occasion models, photographers, and other famous people decided to talk about this GREAT MAN.

Claudia Schiffer calls him “..such a charmer”, Vogue fashion director Anna Harvey calls him ” ..lovable middle-aged bear”,  Scarlett Johansson thinks he’s “..the quintessential French gentleman”.

Certainly he’s the man who could describe an era by immortalizing its most important moments with his camera.

 Born in Le Havre, Demarchelier has lived in New York City since 1975. Since the late 1970’s he has shot the covers for nearly every major fashion magazine including American, British and Paris Vogue.

He has also shot covers for Rolling Stone, Glamour, Life, Elle and Mademoiselle. He has photographed many advertising campaigns, like, Lauren by Ralph Lauren,  Calvin Klein , Giorgio Armani, Chanel, GAP, Gianni Versace, L’Oréal, Elizabeth Arden, Revlon, Lancôme, Gianfranco Ferrè.

He’s the guy who called “Bébé” some of the most famous models like Christy Turlington, Naomi Cambell, Cindy Crawford.. He’s the man who could make Princess Diana have a  laugh and take sublime pictures of it. It seems that this French guy really understood what we women are all about!

Vogue calls him St’Patrick, surely he must be a saint, having had the most attractive women in the planet posing naked in front of him, and still managing to have an attention for his work almost of a maniacal perfection. He’s a precious artist & an “ésprit libre” .

For his divine work and for the future art he will share with the world, we will all remain devote to Patrick Demarchelier.

Where did the dreams go? When did we stop dreaming? I watched a movie from the great director Bernardo Bertolucci, it was 1968, people, students most of all, down in the streets, screaming, hoping, fighting, dreaming..

Are we still capable of believing in something, are we still willing to share hopes and defeats with a group? Lots of questions, those that came in my mind watching this inspiring and also outrageous movie, devoid of any taboo, shame, fear..

Inside and out that house, emotions, struggles, perversion.. perversion in a morbid relationship between brother and sister, perversion in the streets, with the sounds of open fires, shrieks, death… but nevertheless desire, trust, optimism, chance.

So i cannot but wonder where are the dreamers? Where did they go?

Matthew (Michael Pitt), has come to Paris in order to study French. Though he has lived there for several months, and will stay in Paris for a year, he has made no friends already. As a huge fan of film, he spends most of his time in the cinema. He comes into a rapid friendship with a Frenchwoman, Isabelle (Eva Green), and her brother, Théo (Louis Garrel). All three have an avid love for movies, especially “the classics”. As their friendship grows, Matthew learns of the extreme intimacy shared by the siblings and gets pulled into their world. Over time he falls in love with them, and the three seclude themselves from the world, falling further and further from the reality of the 1968 student riots. An abrupt ending to this relationship comes when that world is shattered and they are compelled to face the reality of 1968 France.

Happy happy Christmas to everyone, with the wish that something can finally change in this new year 2008.. A year without politician lies, without fear, without mysteries, without false perfections…

I wish everybody a Merry Christmas

Isn’t it true? No matter how harsh life could be, no even matter how tedious could it be, some of us keep on looking up to the sky. Is it a crime to believe we can make it, shall we be convicted of trying? What i personally think, is that we are nothing without our ability of consciously mistake.. I’m not particularly religious, but i do believe in people, in their courage to take risks.. I believe in golden dreams, made by normal people.

In the run of happiness we are pretty much all the same; layers, prostitutes, sellers, buyers.. none of us is happy at all. Since ages people were divided into two categories; good v. evil, black v. white, winner v. loser, charming v. tedious… i prefer to distinguish people who tries it hard from people who gives up before it starts.

I wanna be someone who tried; not with all her efforts or all her heart, because nobody does, and if it does it’s a mistake and is not gonna work! I want to be someone who never gives up, someone who never and ever could be satisfied of been wealthy, healthy and highly respectable.

I’ll be poor, i’ll be low recpectable, i’ll be insane, i’ll be totally immoral but….. i want to be happy, for how much hard it is…

and i swear i’ll never stop staring at the stars …
